Alan Mruvka holds over 35 years of experience in the real estate, self-storage, and entertainment industries. Most distinguished is his monumental success in revolutionizing a genre of entertainment and celebrity-based television with the founding of pop culture icon, E! Entertainment Television. Now in its 30th year,Â E! Entertainment Television is a NBC/Comcast company valued at over twelve billion dollars. Mruvka is also the Founder and CEO of StorageBlue ((301) 513-7555), a New Jersey based self-storage company and bluenow (bluenow.com), an on-demand pick-up and delivery online self-storage concierge service.
Mruvka studied architecture and structural engineering at the University of Miami and New Yorkâs Pratt Institute where he developed his passion for real estate development, urban redevelopment, and construction. Mruvka drew upon his 35 years in real estate development and his ownership in fifteen, metropolitan area self-storage facilities (American Self Storage, totaling 2.5 million square feet) to launch his newest venture, StorageBlue, a new self-storage company disrupting the industry by offering a one of a kind upgraded customer experience in his five storage facilities located in Jersey City, Hoboken, Union City, Newark and Garfield. Mruvka also launched bluenow, a unique service that picks-up and delivers personal self-storage bins and individual items to residents in the New York metropolitan area and New Jersey with just a few clicks online. Mruvka is also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Alan Mruvka Company, a real estate development company with a focus on creating destination projects and urban redevelopment and Â specializes in self-storage, commercial, and residential development in New York, New Jersey, California and Nevada. For the past seventeen years, Mruvka has been very active in the revitalization of downtown Riverside California and Las Vegas, and presently sits development on over six boards and commissions in Riverside California and Las Vegas Nevada. The Alan Mruvka Companyâs resume of historic renovations include the Riverside Ironworks building, a 40,000 square foot, hundred-year-old fruit packing plant that now houses Wells Fargo, Bechtel Engineering, and Jacobs Civil Engineering; The Santa Fe Depot, a hundred-year-old train station into first class office space, the hundred-year-old Riverside Packing Plant also into first class office space, and the Morgan St. Firehouse in Jersey City New Jersey just to name a few.
In 1984, Mruvka created and founded E! Entertainment Television where, together with partner Larry Namer, executive produced and programed over 20,000 hours of television there. At 28, he was the youngest CEO of a major television network in history and guided the channel to the fastest growth of a start-up cable network also in television history. Since leaving E!, Mruvka created the popular network,Â FX Television and sold it to Fox before launching it. Additionally he executive produced numerous television shows and movies under his âMinistry of Filmâ, âFilmology Labsâ and Filmtown banners, including USA Networkâs âPacific Blue,â the highest rated one hour drama on basic cable which ran for five seasons (101 episodes); the weekly boxing series âThunderbox;â and âConfessions,â Cinemaxâs highest rated half hour program that ran for eleven seasons.Â In addition to his television successes, Mruvka produced numerous successful independent feature films including the winner of the Chicago International Childrenâs Film Festival and the prestigious âClosing-Night-Premierâ at the Sundance Film Festival, âDigging to China,â starring Kevin Bacon and Evan Rachel Wood, and directed by Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton. He also produced HBOâs âRed Lettersâ starring Peter Coyote, Nastasia Kinski, Fairuza Balk, Ernie Hudson and Jeremy Piven; âThe Legend of Gatorfaceâ Showtimeâs highest rated family film to date; and the critically acclaimed âState and Main,â starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alec Baldwin, William H. Macy and Sara Jessica Parker, and directed by acclaimed writer David Mamet.
Mr. Mruvka is an avid philanthropist. He is a supporter of and involved in several charities including The Simon Wiesenthal Center, Wounded Warrior Project, Â St. Josephâs School for the Blind, Special Olympics and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Mr. Mruvka also recently announced the establishment of the StorageBlue Scholarship Fund for sending underprivileged inner city kids to the prestigiousÂ St. Benedictâs Preparatory School in Newark New Jersey,Â and in a corporate partnership with Goodwill, Mr. Mruvka also established theÂ BlueWorld Initiative,Â where StorageBlue drivers collect and bag unused cloths from customers while making pick-ups.
Mr. Mruvka who resides in New York City, was born in the Bronx, New York, and grew up in Queens New York and Englewood Cliffs New Jersey.
